Just finished watching the new Stargate movie. Meh. It was nice to see the gang again, but meh. Spoilers, such as they are )

...

And now my brother is watching the new Rambo movie. God Almighty, that village-destruction scene is the most horrifying thing I have ever, ever seen in a film. I actually feel nauseous now.

You know, I've been listening to this silly, silly song constantly since I downloaded it. I laugh hysterically every freaking time I hear "Kirk" do that uh-huh-huh at the very beginning of his first chorus (around 1:38 or so). XD

Star Trekkin' across the universe
On the starship Enterprise under Captain Kirk
Star Trekkin' across the universe
Boldly going forward 'cause we can't find Reverse

We've been watching When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions on the Discovery Channel. Amazing stuff, I don't care what kinds of political schemes were ultimately behind the big space race.

I always feel the same mix of pride, longing, and dismay when I watch this kind of thing, though: such pride in us, both as a nation and as a species, that we've accomplished such astonishing feats; the terrible longing to Go There and Do That; and a sad sort of dismay at the fact that even with so much potential at our fingertips, we're still preoccupied with blowing each other off the face of the Earth.

Yesterday I dragged out of bed at 5a, went to work at 6a, got my ass kicked again and again and again and again and again and again, left work at 8p, came home and fell unconscious into my bed. It is now 7:30a the next morning, and I am left to ponder the question--which is worse? Sleep deprivation, or over-sleeping? Is the latter even possible?

5:50 pm - Post of Musical Gratuity
My newest obsession: commercial music. As in, music used in commercials. Especially car commercials. It's great stuff, man.

My most recent acquisitions...

The Prototypes' Je Ne Te Connais Pas. I think it was from a Mitsubishi Outlander ad or something.

Friendly Fires' On Board. Another car ad, as far as I can recall.

Lyrics Born's Callin' Out. The Diet Coke "Bounce" commercial song. A commercial which features Adrien Brody, by the bye. :D

Lupe Fiasco's Daydream. The Verizon Wireless Mother's Day ad song. Reminds me of a James Bond opener, for some reason.

No, seriously. Does anyone here have any idea how delicious curried cheese on endive leaves is? Okay, so the endive is kinda bitter--the cheese totally makes up for it. Behold the Power, dude.

*sigh* There are times when working at a country club is ace.

So I went and gave blood again today, my second donation ever. Keeping in mind the fainting fiasco of my first time, I smashed down a big sandwich beforehand, and then sat calmly afterward while I sipped two cans of orange juice. None of which helped, because I wound up on the floor again. At least this time I felt the unconsciousness coming and laid myself down voluntarily, instead of faceplanting on the table. X)

I kinda wonder whether it's because my blood comes out in such a huge rush? It's like the stuff can't wait to be out of my body. The bag was bursting full in, like, ten minutes or something ridiculous like that. The nurse didn't have to do any adjusting or anything, either. I guess maybe my body just doesn't appreciate losing all that blood so quickly?

Into work at 10:30a, out at 10:30p. I'm very sleepy. My feet are two hurtie masses of throb. X(

However, I require spaghetti at this time, so hopefully that'll generate some brainpower for a bit of writeage/self-RP'age. Hopefully.

GIP: Oh Stas, you so pretteh. Be my Dior forever. <333

Also, it's meme tiem. Again. Ganking this one from [info]lindsey, who ganked it from [info]apiphile.

Ask any of the characters I roleplay a question and I'll reply in-character as them with an answer. Feel free to ask them ANYTHING, regardless of whether you know their canon or not. Feel free to also ask them as your own character. They will respond accordingly.

I got a good foot of hair cut off today. It is now very short and chunky. And I have bangs. I haven't had bangs for, like, fifteen years. I am now adorable liek woah.

I'm so excited, I could squeal. :D

Name one of my characters and i shall answer the following questions:

2. What would they refuse to do under any circumstances? Why?
3. What do they dream about? [Either literal or figurative].
4. What’s their biggest fear?
5. What single object would they be most hard pressed to part with? Why?
6. What is their fondest memory?
7. What is their worst memory?
8. What or who was were their most significant influence? Expound.
9. What do they believe makes a successful life?

13. Do they have a fatal flaw? If so, what is it?
14. Who is the most important person in their life?
15. If they died or went missing, who would miss them most?

Have now progressed to the headache/fatigue/sneezing/coughing/dehydration phase of The Sickness. What's really fun is that I had to work Kids Night last night (which always, always sucks, and was especially nightmarish this time), had to be back at 7 this morning for a breakfast, and will be going in for freaking Happy Hour in a scant few hours. SUCK.

Also, I hate it when I'm seriously in the mood to play a particular puppet, and said puppet is dead. Reeeally limits the options. :s

Edit: I've been re-reading my Dennis McKiernan books in an attempt to get my mind off of my ills. *siiiigh* Reminds me why he's right up there with Tolkien on my personal totem pole of Awesome. Warrows > Hobbits, dude, for real.

Still feel like crap today, although the Aleve is taking a lot of the edge off, so I'm reasonably functional.

Went to see The Lion King on stage with my sister last night. Oh my God. Seriously? If you haven't seen it yet, you've been deprived. It was incredible. I already knew the music would be amazing, but the costuming, the choreography, the conceptualizations... I could go on and on, man. They really did a fantastic job of translating 2D animation to a 3D stage production. I loved it. Best of all, it totally made me forget how terrible I felt, seeing as how the drugs were wearing off.

Have to give special props to the actress portraying Rafiki. Holy shiznit. She. was. amazing. I was in tears after the opening song, no joke.

So my sister got me tickets to see the stage production of The Lion King for Christmas. Our showing is tonight, and I've been stoked for the past two months.

Of course, I woke up this morning at 6a with a splitting headache, a sore throat, body aches, and stuffed sinuses. I feel absolutely horrid, and not even the soothing comforts of tea and an affectionate cat are cutting it. I hope my Aleve kicks in soon. :(

So my brother's in the hospital. He's been sick for the past day or so with bad stomach pain and vomiting. Today he started, quote, "Linda Blair barfing," as in it's green. Not good. They're doing bloodwork now.

I should also mention that I feel like crap myself, due to female ishooz. I HATE MY MOMMY PARTS SO MUCH RIGHT NOW ARGH DIE DIE DIE.

UPDATE: Brother's on his way home after three bags of fluid and a bunch of tests. All the labs came back clean, I guess, so they're thinking it's just a nasty strain of whatever stomach virus is going around at the moment.

I am so tired, dude. If I went and laid down right now, I'd be asleep in five minutes. Unfortunately, I have to work tonight (happy hour, ugh), so a nap is out. Maybe I should try going to bed at a normal hour like a smart person, d'oh.

What's not helping is that it's currently 8 degrees F outside, and with the wind chill, it feels like -9. Bleh.

I went into work, folded some napkins, then pleaded my case to the manager on duty. He agreed that four servers + busser + bartender is WAY too much staff for a Sunday morning. Therefore, KF is off today. Huzzah! Today I shall sit around and be utterly useless to society. \:D/

Tweak says, "Subway: Eat Flesh."

I swear to God, I laughed so hard I almost peed myself.
